New project: On Sunday, Australian actress Eliza Scanlen described her ‘horrifying’ experience of playing a young child who rapidly ages into an adult in a single day

‘It was incredibly challenging to play. It’s horrifying. Because it’s a thriller, every scene is propelling the story forward in such a visceral way. So anytime I was in the film it was such high stakes.

‘To constantly maintain that energy for a character is a real challenge, especially considering what my character goes through.’

The new movie trailer was released in March, and follows a ragtag group of tourists who discover an idyllic and secret beach – but all is not what is seems in paradise.

Science Of Sleep star Gael García Bernal leads the cast as a father who takes his family on the beautiful getaway.

He stars alongside Vicky Krieps, who plays his wife, and their two young children – their son (Alex Wolff) and daughter (Eliza).

The clan embark to the picturesque beach despite reading an ominous message that ‘no kids are allowed’.

Soon enough, the little boy soon encounters a floating corpse in the ocean – and after the adults cover it on-shore, they realise it is decomposing at a rapid rate.

Things go from bad to worse as the children suddenly grow a lot older, with Eliza’s character even becoming miraculously pregnant in front of her horrified mother.

Old is set to premiere on July 22 2021.
