The first behind-the-scenes photo from Shazam: Fury of the Gods features the first potential look at the logo for the superhero’s sequel.
The first look at the Shazam: Fury of the Gods logo has been revealed.
@ShazamNews posted a pair of behind-the-scenes images from actor Marta Milans’ Instagram story, one of which features the logo posted on a trailer. The logo appears to have Shazam’s lightning bolt with a stylized title laid on top. Milans portrayed Billy Batson’s adoptive mother Rosa in the first Shazam film and will reprise the role in Fury of the Gods.
Plot details for Fury of the Gods are scarce, though casting has hinted at Billy Batson and his family battling an ancient faction of gods. Helen Mirren will portray Hespera, the sister of the titan Atlas, who serves as the film’s villain, according to certain sources. Lucy Liu has also boarded the film as Hespera’s sister Kalypso. Rachel Zegler will portray an unnamed character but is also a sister of Hespera and Kalypso.
Adam Brody, who plays the superheroic version of Billy’s adoptive brother Freddy Freeman, discussed how Fury of the Gods would maintain the same level of comedy that the first Shazam! did. “I’m sure there’ll be moments of real peril that you take seriously as well. But leaning into the comedy and leaning into the goofiness and the wish-fulfillment of it all is pretty natural,” Brody said.
Directed by David F. Sandberg, Shazam! Fury of the Gods stars Zachary Levi as Shazam, Jack Dylan Grazer as Freddy Freeman, Asher Angel as Billy Batson, Marta Milans as Mama Rosa, Helen Mirren as Hespera, Lucy Liu as Kalypso and Rachel Zegler in an undisclosed role. The film arrives in theaters June 2, 2023.
